General Sales Manager
I’ve been in the car business for close to 30 years and during that time I have had the opportunity to drive almost every car made. This year I decided to lease a new 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe LTZ. Out of all the full size sport utilities on the road today the Tahoe is the one that has impressed me the most. Over the past two years I have noticed a huge increase in the sale of the new body style which changed in 2014 and all our customers have been very happy with their purchase.
We took delivery of the vehicle in mid November and with only 345 KM on the Odometer we embarked on a two week road trip along the western coast of the USA (Hwy 1) through Washington, Oregon, down into California, Nevada, Idaho, Montana and back into Airdrie.
We drove 6200 KM’s on the trip and I must say I was extremely happy with the handling and performance of the Tahoe. We drove directly from Airdrie to Victoria on the first day and I had no driver fatigue at all. I really liked the hill descent feature going through the mountains. Instead of riding the brakes the feature slowed the vehicle and made me feel in total control through the twisty snowy roads. The Magnetic Ride Control gave us a very smooth ride across all road conditions. During the trip we were on main highways, freeways, secondary roads and even across the sand in California. The IntelliBeam high beam assist allowed us to have maximum visibility at night, it would dim and brighten the headlights when there was oncoming traffic. The Lane Keep Assist kept the vehicle between the lines when on the freeway. Pretty cool sensation when you start to veer slightly and the vehicle corrects itself. Especially on the freeways in LA where everyone seemed to be driving 80mph.
Aesthetically the fit and finish on the unit is spectacular. The heated and cooled seats were a great feature and the heated steering wheel was nice driving through the slushy conditions when we were in Washington. The rear power folding seats are pretty slick. Makes putting luggage and groceries in the cargo area very easy. The gauges were very easy to read and all the media controls were well placed.
MyLink and all the features associated with it blew me away. Linda and I both had our cell phones, we each had a tablet, along with a radar detector and dash cam. There was enough ports and plug ins to power everything. The 4G LTE Mobile WI-FI was amazing. Linda watched some NETFLIX movies on her tablet on the way home driving through Montana during a snow storm. The wireless connectivity worked flawlessly. Having OnStar is a pretty cool feature. I used it daily when looking for hotels and places of interest. The agents were all friendly and super helpful. They helped us plot routes through areas of interest and sent the info directly to our navigation system. We downloaded the On Star RemoteLink mobile app to our Android phones and daily got updates of how the tire pressure was and our fuel economy. We had one super cold morning where I used the Remote Start to warm up the vehicle. It worked perfectly from my mobile phone, even heated the seats while warming up. The sound system and XM Satellite were pretty spectacular. Lots of setting to customize the sound they way you like it. Handsfree calling and voice activated commands, there is so much cool technology on the Tahoe I could go on and on.
Needless to say I was blown away by what the vehicle offers.
Over all the fit, finish and handling of the unit is spectacular and I know Linda is enjoying it immensely, it’s her daily driver.
From the first moment you see it, Tahoe makes an impression. Its sculpted bodyside panels and a confident, athletic stance demand attention, while the quiet interior surrounds the driver with premium amenities and refined functionality.
Attention to detail
The Tahoe interior features premium materials that contribute to the functional design, offering the perfect combination of comfort and versatility.
Multiple SUV seating configurations
Refined inside and out
Inside Tahoe, the center console is large enough to fit a laptop computer, and the 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen slides up to reveal a lockable space to help secure your valuables. When you’re outside of the vehicle, an available sensor under the rear bumper lets you open the liftgate with a gentle kicking motion when your hands are full.
Make a statement
Head out for a night on the town with bold accessories like available 22-inch wheels and a chrome mesh grille, or get ready for a trip to the great outdoors with an available roof-mounted kayak carrier and hitch-mounted bicycle carrier.
Whatever you want to do, the Chevrolet Tahoe is a full-size SUV that can be customized to reflect your style.
Peace and quiet
Creating a quiet cabin was a major focus, which is why Tahoe features an acoustic-laminated windshield and triple-sealed inlaid doors to help reduce outside noise. Additional exterior/interior dash insulation and a thicker floor barrier in critical areas isolate exhaust and underbody noise.
The result? The quietest Tahoe ever, offering a drive that’s hushed and peaceful and an environment that feels like a sanctuary from the outside world.
Capability and comfort
A light weight suspension helps optimize fuel economy while still
being stiff enough to maintain the excellent ride Tahoe is known for.
Along with a superior ride, Tahoe offers a maximum towing capability
of up to 8,600 lbs. – plenty of power to tow boats, ATVs and
whatever else you want to bring along.
Put information and entertainment a touch away with the Chevrolet MyLink display, which features an 8-inch diagonal color touch-screen that you can customize with the options you use most.
Available keyless entry allows you to simply press the button on the door handle to unlock the door. And then as long as the key fob is in the vehicle, you can start the engine with the push of a button.
Bring your technology with you and stay fully charged with 13 charging locations, including up to 6 USB ports, a 110-volt three-prong outlet, and an available wireless charging station.
