Yes, you read that right, the first-ever all-electric Silverado RST. Electric and hybrid vehicles have become more and more popular over the years, with pickup trucks seemingly the last bastion to receive this welcome, modern upgrade. While you might not think that “electric” and “truck” go together easily, the Silverado bucks this trend, making it a vehicle that truly goes beyond any traditional vehicle definition. What can you expect with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV before it arrives in late 2023? Read on to preview its many new-age features, from us at Davis Chevrolet in Airdrie.

Battery System
The Silverado EV will be built on GM’s exciting new platform, Ultium. This battery platform is not only seamlessly integrated into the design of the pickup, but, of course, presents a new level of power, efficiency, versatility and performance able to be achieved by a battery-powered pickup. You’ll be able to get up to a whopping 640 km of range on a full charge, letting you truly enjoy long roads without having to worry about charging. Further, GM’s Ultifi software system ensures that all of your on-board apps and systems are always updated with the latest functionality.
Charging
There’s 3 levels of charging that let you keep your Silverado EV fully charged and ready for the road ahead, and which come into play across a variety of driving and living situations. Charge in these 3 ways.
- 120-Volt Charging:
- This is your standard Level 1 home charging, featuring a 3-prong, 120V household outlet.
- 240-Volt Charging:
- This Level 2 home charging ability utilizes a 240V household appliance outlet for faster charging.
- DC Fast Charging:
- Charge on-the-go thanks to DC fast charging, which allows you to get up to 160km of range in a scant 10 minutes.
Performance Specifications
The 2024 Silverado EV is still a pickup overall, so don’t be concerned about it lacking any power or performance, it’s quite the opposite. When it comes to power, torque and speed, the Silverado RST is ready to get to work. Enjoy over 660 horsepower and 780 lb-ft of torque with Wide Open Watts, a truly staggering number for this style of truck. You can also slingshot ahead from 0 - 96 km/h in under 4.5 seconds thanks to Wide Open Watts as well. Make no mistake, the Silverado EV is ready to perform with the best of them, and will be up to the standard of any discerning Albertan truck enthusiast.
Truck Bed & Storage Utility
Along with its power abilities, the Silverado, of course, functions as any pickup should with a mass of storage and bed utility. The bed operates in a trio of different ways, either as a standard bed, able to take on more length thanks to the 60/40 flip-and-fold seat in the rear and still being able to take on a rear passenger, or fully with the multi-flex mid-gate and pass-through that fold down the entire rear seat for maximum length. This being an electric truck means pop the hood and get used to a new sight of no Chevy engine under there, but instead a convenient place to store all of your gear.
Sleek Design
A Silverado this modern needs to look the part as well, and, boy, does it thanks to a sleek reimaging of what a pickup should look like in the modern age. It’s urban feel makes it easily at home on city streets, but with enough rugged appeal that will also find itself home in the country, on your farm or getting out for a weekend getaway (did we mention it has 10,000 lbs of towing ability, with a future WT version able to get to 20,000 lbs?). Accenting these modern features are the low-profile lighting designs that truly bring the Silverado to life. For those more concerned with the imposing nature of the pickup, available 24-inch aluminum wheels provide both size and style.
