The electric vehicle revolution is coming to the pickup truck inventory at Davis Chevrolet in more than one way. We’ve already heard a little bit about the Silverado EV, and now Chevy’s sister brand, GMC, is pulling the curtain back on what we can expect to see when the Sierra EV goes into production and begins to arrive at dealerships around Canada for the 2025 model year. “This truck is everything customers know about the Sierra, but is so much more,” Nichole Kraatz, chief engineer, GM Battery Electric Trucks, said in a press release. “Leveraging GM’s dedicated Ultium pickup platform, it takes the Sierra franchise to new benchmarks of capability, versatility and luxury — all in a zero-tailpipe-emissions package.”
Preliminary GMC Sierra EV Powertrain Capacity
GMC is employing a powerful battery system combined with a series of powerful electric motors to propel the coming GMC Sierra EV. When the electric truck goes on sale, it will feature:
- A maximum of 640 km (400 miles) of driving range on a full charge
- 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque on Max Power mode
- An 800-volt public charging setting that can provide 160 km of range in 10 minutes
- More than 4,300 kg (9,500 lbs.) of maximum towing
Like any other GMC Sierra, the EV version is built to go almost anywhere and handle almost any terrain. Drivers can apply different throttle and suspension settings with the various driving modes that are available. The available driving modes include:
- Standard
- Tow/Haul
- Off-Road
- My Mode (Fully customizable)
- Max Power
