Summer-Specific Ways To Detail the Exterior

To be sure, modern automotive exterior paint is better than ever. However, all areas of a vehicle’s exterior need a little extra protection from the harsh sunlight and summer heat. Some things you can do to protect the exterior include:

  • Apply wax or ceramic coating to protect the paint from UV light
  • Avoid direct sunlight while washing the exterior to prevent soap from drying on the finish
  • Quickly remove bugs, tree sap and other contaminants as quickly as possible to prevent paint damage
  • Apply protectants to the tires to prevent the rubber from drying out and cracking

How is Interior Detailing Different During Summer?

While there is some inherent protection from the sun for the interior provided by the windshield, windows, and more, some light still sneaks in. There are a few things you can do to keep the inside of your vehicle as fresh as possible.

  • Spray appropriate protectant products on the dashboard and leather seats to prevent UV damage
  • Thoroughly clean up spills and dirt. The additional heat can cause lingering odours to worsen
  • Keeping the interior free of dust, dirt and other contaminants will help the HVAC system work more efficiently
