Life can be unpredictable. There is no telling when a single event can derail our plans and force us to find a new path. “I started at Davis kind of by accident,” Weigel said. “I was initially going to be a police officer. I got hurt and couldn’t do that anymore, so I was looking for a job.”

Weigel’s mother-in-law worked for a Davis location in Medicine Hat and arranged a meeting with the dealership’s leadership.

“They met with me and was hired on the spot,” Weigel said. “I didn’t want to work in the automotive industry. I fell in love with the culture, and it felt like a career where I could be successful.”

In the 13 years Weigel has been with the Davis organization, he’s held several roles, including consumer sales, fleet sales and sales manager. Ultimately, Weigel would like to take on the role of General Manager, making his past experience all the more critical.

“Having these positions gives you a great view (of the dealership) and how everything ties together,” Weigel said. “Especially in the service department. It’s the heartbeat of the dealership.”

Hobbies and Family Life

When Weigel isn’t working at the dealership, he spends time with his family. Being together with his wife and son, as well as his parents, who live with him, is a top priority.

“We love camping in the mountains in the summer, and I like board games,” Weigel said. “We’ll do some skiing and snowboarding in the winter. I’m a pretty chill person.”

Dream Car

If Weigel’s family-first bona fides needed more evidence, just look at what he would choose as a dream vehicle.

“I’m not a person that is wowed by fancy vehicles. I’m more about what is functional,” Weigel said. “I love seven-passenger SUVs. The extra space would be great. I’d pick the new Chevrolet Traverse.”
