Pack Your Cargo Carefully

If your trip is going to last more than a few days or take you into the woods, you might be carrying a lot of cargo. Any items that are being carried inside the vehicle should be held as securely as possible. Additionally, those items should not obstruct any of the windows to allow for the best possible outward visibility.

Another popular method of hauling cargo and other additional gear is attaching a carrier to the roof. In addition, to being sure to properly secure the cargo carrier to the vehicle. Carrying extra weight on the roof may increase stopping distances in emergencies.

Drive Defensively

We understand you’ll be excited to get to your trip’s final destination. However, that is no excuse to drive excessively fast or otherwise recklessly. Defensive driving means:

  • Keeping pace with traffic
  • Giving other cars plenty of space
  • Anticipating exits

Also, since you’ll likely be driving in an unfamiliar area, you’ll need to pay closer attention to navigational information like your GPS or available signage.

Prepare For Emergencies

Anything can happen on the road. You will want to make sure that you’re ready to handle anything that could conceivably happen while travelling. You will want to ensure you have a proper roadside emergency kit with jumper cables, fix-a-flat and other appropriate emergency devices.

We hope you enjoy your summer road trip this year. If you need to ensure your car, truck or SUV is ready to travel, make an appointment with the Davis Chevrolet Service Department today.
