Get Your Car Ready for Spring Driving
What Should Car Owners Do in Spring?
You’ve made it through another brutal Alberta winter. Spring may or may not feel nearby, but we promise the snow will melt and the weather will get warmer. Your car, truck or SUV has different needs in March or April than it does in November or December. So, what should car owners do in Spring to take care of it? Replace Wiper Blades
Most windshield wiper blades have a lifespan of about six months. Hopefully, you remembered to put on a set that was designed to deal with snow and ice. If you didn’t, you will almost definitely need to install a new set to get ready for Spring. Also, don’t forget to look into seasonal options for this time of year. Using winter-focused wiper blades won’t be as effective.
Additionally, you may need to change out your wiper fluid for a seasonal formula.
New Oil Filter
Are you due for an oil change? Don’t put this off any longer. Cold temperatures are hard on vehicles in general, and the cold can cause a faster-than-normal breakdown of the oil filter. These should be replaced with every oil change anyway, but coming out of winter, it is even more important.
Swap Out Winter Tires
It might still be a little early to think about swapping tires, but you should make your appointment to get it done at Davis Chev as soon as possible. The rule of thumb is that when the average temperature is at 7°C or above, it’s time for winter tires to go back into storage.
Check the Battery
Few things are as inconvenient as coming out to find your car’s battery has succumbed to the elements. Cold temps are especially hard on batteries, and it could be time to make a switch. If your interior lights seem dim or the vehicle struggles to start, your battery could be on its last legs. Our team can test your battery quickly during any service appointment to let you know if a change needs to be made.
