Davis Chevrolet leads the way in building local EV charging infrastructure
The electric vehicle revolution is here. The wheels are in motion and Davis Chevrolet is on the leading edge of vehicle electrification. The Government of Canada has a goal to eliminate fossil fuels from passenger cars and light-duty pickup trucks by 2035. A lot needs to happen before that date. Our dealership has constructed one of the premiere charging facilities in Alberta that can charge more than a dozen vehicles while also protecting them from potentially damaging weather conditions. Follow along with us while we outline the future of electric vehicles from General Motors and how future EV owners can benefit from this community investment by Davis Chevrolet.
Which Vehicles Can be Charged at Davis Chev?
Just about every brand under the General Motors umbrella in Canada will have at least one electric vehicle coming to market in the near future. Chevrolet already offers the Bolt EV and Bolt EUV. These two ground-breaking models are among the most affordable options for people looking to take advantage of a gasoline-free driving experience.
In the near future, we expect to see the following electric models enter our inventory, including:
“We lead by example to consumers and other businesses,” Glenn Smaha, General Manager and Partner at Davis Chevrolet GMC Buick, said in an interview with Airdrie City View. “General Motors’ focus is to have 30 electric models by 2025.”
Is EV Charging Sustainable?
Eventually, Davis Chevrolet will be selling and servicing the Hummer EV. That requires the dealership to have a powerful 50 kWh charger on site. Wiring that into normal power sources would be quite the draw on local resources. In order to get ahead of the demand, solar power cells are being installed on the roof, covering the charging stations. The solar equipment is expected to supply between 20 and 25 percent of the energy required to charge vehicles. Additionally, our new charging bays will be very visible to people traveling past Davis Chevrolet on Highway 2.
